Welcome to our website. I am glad that you have taken
the time to learn more about us. We are a local expression
of the body of Christ associated particularly with
the Presbyterian
Church in America (PCA). If you ever have a chance
to come and worship with us, we would love to have
you. Times for our various services and studies can
be found at our Church
Activities button on our home page.
Our Church is
committed to the faithful teaching of the Bible, the
Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. We believe
that the one true and living God has revealed Himself
in Jesus Christ and through the Scriptures. Far from
being some antiquated and irrelevant book, the Bible
speaks to every area of human existence, giving us
understanding of who God is, who we are in relation
to God, life’s purpose and meaning, and, thus,
hope. This hope shapes our lives as we live in anticipation
of the future promises of God.
The hope that we have
as Christians and how it shapes all of life is revealed
each week in our worship, the Lord’s Service.
God has called us as His people to offer ourselves
up to Him as living sacrifices (Romans 12.1). Throughout
the Scriptures God prescribes for us principles and
precepts concerning what this looks like when we come
together as His people. Our worship is rooted and grounded
in those principles that have been reflected in Christ’s
Church throughout her history. What is beautiful about
this Biblical worship is that the gospel of Jesus Christ
is clearly displayed every week. The Lord’s Service
principally concerns how God has given Himself to us
in Christ. As God initiates the relationship with His
people, His people are to respond by believing His
word, living out what He has commanded us to do. This
is nothing more than what the Bible calls faith.
At
the beginning of the Lord’s Service we are confronted
with our need before a holy God: we are sinners. We
have disobeyed God through doing what He has commanded
us not to do and through refusing to do what He has
commanded us to do. So, we confess our sins. The promise
of God’s forgiveness is extended to all those
who will trust Him. For those who trust Him, He re-orders
our lives according to His plan and purpose for us
so that we fulfill the purpose for which He created
us and redeemed us. Our God then promises us that His
purposes will be fulfilled in our lives as He feeds
us at His own Table. Here He assures us that all of
His promises are true and that He is working in us
as His people to bring about what He has promised.
This
sacrificial service does not stop after we eat bread
and drink wine together. Sacrificial worship must flow
into sacrificial living. What is done on the Lord’s
Day (i.e., Sunday) is to shape the way we live in our
relationships, in our work, and in our recreation.
No part of life is untouched as we present ourselves
as living sacrifices. For this reason, we encourage
and work toward the restoration and building of strong,
godly, biblically-ordered family relationships. We
educate our children to live properly before God and
in His world. We strive for selfless service to one
another within the Church itself. We seek to glorify
God in whatever area of creation He has placed us to
labor. We desire to show mercy to those who need mercy.
We work for righteousness in our city, State, and nation.
And we seek to see the gospel of Christ proclaimed
to every living creature, establishing colonies of
heaven throughout the earth1.
This
is only a little taste of who we are. Please take
some time to look over our website, listen to some
sermons, peruse our liturgy, and learn more about
us. If you have any questions, or if we can be of
assistance to you in any way, please do not hesitate
to contact me through the e-mail address provided here or
call me at the Church office.
